Those Who Can't Drink..

Pedicure and Manicure.

I, my friends, am in dire need of an escape from my household...xbox obsessed husband..and dogs that seem to never leave my side (probably because said husband ignores ALL OF US when the xbox is on..which lately seems to be..uhm..15/24 hours a day.)

SO. What I would normally have a beer, bloody mary or some other various cocktail to "solve" I am heading out for an hour of relaxation and  ME time.

Happy Wednesday!

Daddy vs. Nursery

Being that I can't do much physically right now, Tom is in charge of the heavy lifting/manual labor in getting Baby S's nursery all set up :)

A few weeks ago we went and found the PERFECT changing table (and a few other awesome pieces..oops) at a lovely place in Mechanicsville called Through The Garden Gate. This is not only an antique MOTHERLOAD..but the owner has her own beautiful collection of hand-antiqued/shabby chic items that she and her husband create and upcycle. I am slightly obsessed with this place and they are the cutest and sweetest people we've met so far here in VA. Pam is probably who I'll turn out to be in about 15 years and that my friends, is ONE COOL LADY! She is seriously good as gold..and has an eye for all things beautiful! Go check 'em out yourselves :)

Anyways.. all of these lovely pieces arrived to our house this afternoon (yes..they deliver..in state of course) and we were anxious to get the nursery uncluttered and somewhat in order. Here are some pictures of Daddy getting things situated and put together. Most everything is still in it's box, but he did manage to get the changing table knobs switched out and the mamaroo put together while I sat on the floor and took tags off of clothes (which I may add Baby S is going to be STYLIN..and never..ever..will "I have nothing to wear" come out of his little mouth ha ha).  Hope you enjoy...and be on the lookout for much more to come !!

AWESOME Vintage Door turned memo board/chalk board :) This little gem now sits in our office (shown here..which will soon have a deep navy wall paint) and will HOPEFULLY help me keep our bills more organized. Definitely not one of my finer traits.

When my dad visits for Christmas, he's coming a week prior to my momma and sister, he's building us some awesome window seating with built in storage and doggie crates under our kitchen bay window! This will serve as a breakfast nook/table. So excited !

Bianca scoping out the new furniture.

It looks small in the photo, but this bad boy is our changing table/dresser that will be used for Baby S! It's originally a sideboard for a dining room (note the wheels) but it's excited to be used as a changing table..it told me so!

Daddy removing the old knobs to replace with the new.

LOVE the new knobs we picked out at Hobby Lobby for the changing table. The original one's were lovely..but I'm always trying to find ways to put "my touch" on a piece :)

This little beauty is a side table that will be used next to our rocker for those late night feedings :) The crate on top will be used as a decorative place to store little tiny baby things!

Starting the Mamaroo construction!
Most of my time in the nursery today was spent on the floor, tearing tags off of clothing and preparing them for their first washing! It's amazing how even the smallest task makes it feel more real ! Also, please note the perfect little KU onesie on top :) Rock Chalk!
Daddy putting the final touches on the Mamaroo. Which by the way is the COOLEST baby swing ever.

What A Crazy Week

Just to recap the past week of our lives, which has been absolutely hectic from start to finish, goes a littttttle something like this.

Monday

Started nanny job with the sweet family in Richmond. Love love love them and their sweet baby girl Sophia. Day goes perfectly, happy baby..happy nanny..happy parents.

Tuesday

Second day with Miss Sophia also goes perfectly. Noticed some back pain but chalked it up to the pure fact that I haven't worked in nearly 8 months. Also notice my rings are a bit tight, and my hands/feet feel tight and painful also. Put a call into my midwife and the general consensus was that it should go down if I prop my feet up, and to lay off the salt (do these people know who I am?! Stone family= Salt Feine's!) No big deal, go about our day and that is that. Head home and notice that I'm still fairly swollen all over, and my heart is pretty much racing. Take my BP and it's a bit higher than I'd like it to be so I take a hot bath and early to bed.

Wednesday

Holy swollen body Batman. I wake up to head to work and notice that I can't even get my rings OFF my fingers to wash my face/hands and my feet look like they could belong to some sort of monster in Frankenstein. Here we go with the issues. Was basically MISERABLE all day at work.  Poor Soph was having a restless day and I can't even tell you how many times I was up and down the stairs continually to put in her paci, rub her back and various things to try her to get back to her nap (major 12 week growth spurt). Needless to say I was beat and when you do too much, especially pregnant, I've come to notice that your body does not lie. After 14 braxton hicks contractions in a 6 hour period, I knew I was in for it. Swelling was bad. Pain was bad, and I was ready to go to sleep. Head home and repeat my hot bath/early to bed combination and this time threw in some tylenol in hopes to soothe my pains.

Thursday

Kind of a back story here with this one involving our home flood. After the restoration company pulled up the kitchen cabinets for removal and floor replacement, they notice the big bad BLACK MOLD has created a home all over our kitchen floors. Apparently when the ServPro company came the day after our lovely little incident they weren't able to successfully dry out the entire kitchen thus leading to the mold. Black mold is bad for anyone, but being pregnant causes your immune system to be compromised..aka..this was a huge scare. My midwife decided that it would be best that I head to see a perniatologist, a doctor specializing in high risk pregnancies, simply to have a more extensive ultrasound to check on our sweet baby. Black mold exposure can cause fetal asthma in utero, respitory issues with the "host" (that would be me) and many other scary things that can stunt fetal development.

Today would be my long awaited appointment with the Peri to make sure things were right on track and to confirm the exposure to mold was not an issue. I would go into work after my appointment and the day would be normal beyond that. You plan, God laughs.

Our ultrasound was perfect. Baby S is looking perfect and content in my womb and was measuring a week ahead so our new due date is 2-23 rather than Leap Day. Excellent. The concern? The 14 braxton hicks contractions I had the day prior, as well as my fluid intake/output. Thus leading us to the remainder of the day in and out of the lab for blood draws. I was sent home with a pretttyyy orange jug that I would be housing in our refridgerator for the next 24 hours. Yep, we're talking urine collection here folks. 24 hours worth. You'd be surprised how much you actually pee during that amount of time! It's insane and I literally felt like Juno carrying this thing (too bad it wasn't full of Sunny D).

As of right now, I'm on bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy unless of course my results come back passing with flying colors, which then I'll be switched to modified which would be ideal. This means that I had to quit my job, yes..the one I just started days before this all happened, cancel our "baby moon" to NYC the first weekend of December..and amp up my DVR schedule for the next 12 weeks. The doctor is concerned with swelling and my potassium/sodium levels and thinks I may soon be heading down the road of preeclamptic joy. Lovely. Best thing to know is that Baby S is perfect, I'm going to be okay and the doctor's are being very proactive and pre-cautious to the situations at hand. We'll get through it. Thanks for all the prayers and support you all have given! Baby S loves you already..and so do we !

Baby Shower

Hi everyone! I'm Nicole & I just wanted to take a second to mention Sarah's baby shower via the blog. As most all of you have already guessed from the invitation that you have received, this is not a typical baby shower. But we {Erica & I} want to make the shower as involved as possible- thus the Oooo and Awww over everything by just looking at the blog. If your reading this that means that you actually read the invite & know that you could stop over here to check for info and updates (way to go)!!

So to clarify any confusion- there are two games included in the invitation that you received along with instructions. If you will please fill those out and mail to Sarah by the December 4th- this will also be part of her shower and a way that we can interact from home. If you would like to have your name entered to when the 'door prize' {which is a awesome prize that will be mailed to the winner} please include a piece of string or yarn in with the games that you mail back. The string needs to be the size that you think Sarah is. Meaning it must fit around her tummy perfectly!

Also Sarah is registered online at Babies R Us and Diapers.com. Diapers.com offers free shipping to Sarah so you will not have to worry about shipping costs. Please click below to look at with registry.

If you have any questions please email me at the address on the invitation! There will be more updates as the shower gets closer! Thanks so much in advance for participating in this shower, I know it means a lot to Sarah & Tom!

First Post. 24 weeks, Hello Viability!

Hello family and friends :) Thanks for stopping by! I will be honest and say I'm not awesome at keeping up with a blog (I've tried before and it was a definite failure on my part)..so..here's to hoping I'm able to keep this one in check :)

Just to update everyone on Baby C, who by the way has a name..but that's a secret until his arrival..

We have reached viability!!! 24 weeks is a huge milestone for any pregnancy. At this time the baby has a chance to survive outside of the womb if for some reason I were to deliver early. With saying that..we definitely want him to stick in there until the end but it's definitely reassuring to know that it's possible our little man could survive in the NICU if he were to come early as of now!

AND now.. even though his name is under wraps..for monogramming purposes (since I know some of you love that just as much as I)..his initials ARE......

drumroll please?

SBC

andddd it's NOT sebastian for those thinking they've been dooped ;)

In other news, Tom's job is going well. His schedule right now is kind of stinky with night incident training which means super super late nights (some nights 3 am is when he gets home) but beyond that he's enjoying being an instructor and a mentor to his students. He's definitely a leader and this job is perfect for him. Now if we could only get to LOVING Virginia as much as his job than we'd be in a great place :)

We are still calling the hotel our "home" for now. Hopefully we can look at moving back into our house this weekend and can consider the house "new again" by December 1st. I'm starting back to work as a nanny next Monday and the family I'm working for lives in Richmond. The drive from our house isn't too terrible at around 25 minutes, but from our hotel it's nearly an hour and a half! Hoping moving back home this weekend pans out so I don't have to waste so much time/gas commuting. I can't wait to go spend some time with an adorable little girl named Sophie, 3 months old, and eventually be able to bring Baby C to work with me upon his arrival. They are a super sweet family and I'm definitely looking forward to the opportunity of helping them out!!

Well that is all for now. I hope you all enjoy our blog.. and I hope even more that I can keep up with it so you all have some interesting, entertaining and sometimes just down right silly material to read during your free time ;)

xoxo,

Sarah
